Poor Construction Leads to Mold
Poor construction techniques led to this water intrusion and eventual mold problem. Moisture was allowed to evade the exterior walls because of improperly installed window units. The water saturated insulation, drywall, sub floor and floor coverings. All which act as a food source for mold if the materials get wet.
Those porous materials affected by mold growth needed to removed. During removal containment was set to reduce the possibility of spreading mold spores to other parts of the home during demolition. An air scrubber was used during this process as well to remove mold spores that may have become airborne.
